Monthly list prices, read from each vendor's plans page on 10 October 2026. Annual billing is cheaper on some plans (Cloudinary Advanced $224/mo, Uploadcare Business $166/mo); ImageKit publishes no annual discount. Cloudinary charges an additional fee for the CNAME on top of the plan. Cheaper tiers exist at every provider — ImageKit Lite is $9/mo, the same as PixelVault Starter — but none of them include a custom domain.

The free plan is deliberately useful enough for some businesses to run on. If your needs fit its limits and image retention policy, you can stay on it without upgrading. Paid plans give you more capacity when you need it.

Frequently asked questions
What happens when I hit a limit?
You'll get email alerts at 80% and 100%, so a limit is never a surprise. Uploads stop at the limit. On the free plan, images are replaced by a placeholder until the month resets or you upgrade; paid plans keep serving. No overages, ever.
Are there egress fees?
No. Zero egress fees, always. You pay a flat monthly price regardless of how many times your images are viewed.
What about free tier image retention?
Images older than 6 months that haven't been accessed in 30 days may be cleaned up. You get a 14-day grace period. Upgrade to any paid plan to keep everything.
Can I use this with any coding agent?
Yes. The API works with any HTTP client. We ship a Claude Code skill for native integration, and provide OpenAPI spec + llms.txt for any agent to discover and use PixelVault.
Can I host private images or CI screenshots?
Yes. Private images serve behind signed URLs — the free plan includes up to 100, paid plans are unlimited. For CI, our GitHub Action uploads visual-regression screenshots on a failed run and posts them straight into the pull request.
Where is my data stored?
At rest, in the EU. Image files live in Cloudflare R2 (EU jurisdiction) and account data + metadata in an EU-region Postgres database — GDPR-friendly by default. Requests run on Cloudflare's global edge. Our site uses cookieless analytics, so there are no tracking cookies and no cookie banner.
Can I export my images or leave anytime?
Yes — on every plan, free included. Export your whole project (every image plus a manifest.json) as a single tar archive from the dashboard or the CLI (pixelvault export). No lock-in: your data is always one command away. See the docs.
